Sailing, fishing, swimming, surfing and much more. The biggest swimming lake in the Oberallgäu offers everything a sportsman's heart could possibly wish for. This small water paradise is situated in Sulzberg, embedded inbetween the foothills of the Allgäu Alps. Many leisure time facilities such as a beachvolleyball field and big playing areas are waiting for you!
For a change you can also hike or bike along the 15 km hike and bike trail or you can make a guided tour at the reservoir dam.
Visit the "spring of happy fitness"! The Niedersonthofen lake has 162 ha and attracts lots of swimmers, rowers, sailors, surfers and fishers. At the four official bathing places and two camping places you have direct access to the lake. We recommend a hiking tour at the circular path (ca. 10 km) with many huts and restaurants on the way.
The Eschacher pond on 1,000 m above sea level offers a marvellous view over the mountains and a great refreshment in the cool waters! If you search for a quite place ot relax and swim you can find it in the heart of the Nature Park. There's also a separate area for nudists.
The Sulzberg lake, which is also called "Öschlesee" by locals, is situated in the idyllic setting of the nature reserve in the South of Kempten. The lake with a maximum depth of ca. 15 m is perfect for all keen swimmers. The natural lakeside, the bathing beach in the North as well as the water areas for kids with boat rental are just made for relaxing days with your family.
